Research Featured on the Cover of ACS Chemistry of Materials

Update:2025.05.30

The collaborative research conducted by Associate Professor Masashi Tanaka of Kyutech, together with the University of Glasgow, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and Hiroshima University, has been published in the American Chemical Society (ACS) journal Chemistry of Materials and selected for the Supplementary Cover Art.

The study presents a new method for creating zirconium nitride (ZrN), which is widely used in various industrial applications. Refining the synthesis process, the team produced high-purity ZrN with unique structural features and uncovered new superconducting properties. This discovery sheds light on the hidden potential of a long-studied material and opens new avenues for advanced materials research.

The publication results from international collaboration supported by the Overseas Training Programme at Kyushu Institute of Technology.
The paper was published online on May 10, 2025, and featured on the cover of the 27th May issue.
